This material presents the methodology for calculating the voltage of generating units in hydroelectric power plants (HPPs), considering the influence of step-up transformer characteristics, tap positions, generated power, power factor and associated substation voltage.
The methodology makes it possible to determine the generation voltage required under different plant operating conditions, including generator synchronization, loaded operation and the analysis of exceptional operating conditions. It also allows evaluation of the influence of associated substation voltage variations and different transformer tap positions on generating unit voltage levels.
The package consists of a technical PDF document containing the theoretical background, calculation equations and application examples, as well as an Excel spreadsheet developed to automate generation voltage calculations. The spreadsheet enables the analysis of different operating scenarios quickly and efficiently, supporting studies related to hydroelectric power plant design, modernization, expansion and operation.
